We designed this retreat specifically for narrative fiction authors. It is ideal for writers who have hit a wall or need deep immersion to find the heart of their story. If you are ready to move beyond the "idea" phase and commit to the rigorous, embodied work of finishing your story, you belong here.

This is an 18+ event.

On excursions where you might want to take photos, you are welcome to have your phones, though we encourage going into "airplane mode" in order to dive into your own space. You are welcome to have phones in your rooms to keep in touch with loved ones as needed.

However, we will enforce a protective Analog Protocol during specific creative blocks. Excursions like the Loch Clunie reflection and our deep writing sessions are designated phone-free zones. This boundary is designed to protect your focus, allowing you to enter the "deep time" necessary for complex narrative work without the friction of digital interruption. There are not televisions in the rooms, but WiFi is available.

We can absolutely accommodate most diets, special requests, and accessibility needs. We are working closely with the events team at McArthur Manor and we can put you directly in touch with them for anything we do not know the answers to off the top of our heads.

There are a couple of rooms that can have pets for an additional fee, but they are not allowed above the ground floor or on some of the excursions. We will have our small dog with us, who is trained as a service dog, so any pets need to be extremely well behaved. Please message us if this is something you want to explore.

While we include immersive experiences like the Scottish Highlands whisky tasting, the Castle Menzies ghost tour, and the Murder Mystery dinner, these are strategically placed to spark creativity, not diminish it. The schedule is balanced with spacious, unhurried blocks of "Deep Work" where you are free to write in the gardens, your room, or the communal manor spaces. We will also include sensory writing time by a nearby loch.

We honor the writer's need for solitude (and Anna is an introvert herself). While we will gather for meals and specific rituals like the opening circle and the final Ceilidh dances, participation in social downtime is always at your discretion. The Manor is large enough to find a quiet corner whenever you need to recharge. Anna and Luca are also expert facilitators who will be working hard to ensure that any social time has introvert-friendly structure.

You can cancel until April 15th, minus a $100 admin fee for having to refill your spot. From April 15th to May 25th, you can cancel with a 50% refund. After May 25th, there is no refund for cancelling. We HIGHLY recommend you get trip insurance in case anything unexpected comes up. We will be happy to work with those claims.
